March 8 will be celebrated around the world as International Women’s Day. It is a day to celebrate women, support them to strive higher in their careers, highlight the challenges women face and also to showcase their cultural, social and economic achievements.
Many events have been lined up in different countries to support women and encourage the female child. From the US, Japan, UK, Australia, down to Nigeria; events and discussions ranging from the refugee crisis, enhancing of talent diversity, women in leadership, to symposium on health and gender equality.
As I’m pained in my heart concerning the previous post where young females are being abducted and married off at such a young age, instead of getting education and making something meaningful out of their lives; I urge our leaders and parents to use this day to advocate for the rights of the female child.
Happy Women’s Day.
