Today, 19th of August , 2015 is World Humanitarian Day with the theme ‘Inspiring The World’s Humanity’.
The UN Secetary-General, Ban Ki-Moon struck a chord in me with a quote of his:
“In a world that is ever more digitally connected, each of us has the power and responsibility to inspire our fellow human beings to act to help others and create a more humane world.”
World Humanitarian Day is a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity to help others. An opportunity to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian around the world.
We should all learn to help one another, be more humane and selfless.
This took me back to last week when I encountered a tiny ‘baby’ bird outside my door when I woke up early enough to prepare for tutorial class.
I was surprised and a little bit frightened; yeah, I know, it’s just a bird, duh! Lolz.. I can say I was ‘birdly’ humane; said hello to it, it just kept staring at me. My neighbour noticed the bird and saw the way I was being hesitant around it, he laughed at me and said the little bird came to visit me’ told him to please ‘shuuoze’ it away.
I gisted my sis about it and she pretty much said same, that it came to say ‘hi’. By the time I came back from tutorials later in the day, it had gone.
Bottom line, we should all become an active messenger of humanity and to an extension, to our environment (birds inclusive). Lolz.
